Mens Steampunk Corset

Just wanted to share a pic of my recent corset I made for an exhibition I was involved in last month......has a steampunk feel to it I think.
I really have a passion for recycling, and that generally helps in sourcing my costume supplies and it really helps in generating my creativity (nothing like lots of random stuff to excite my imagination with a challenge).

So this beast has parts of a boot, a jacket and old latex lion (discarded for new replacement ones from the roman soldier at work). Lots of studs, internal boning......sewing and plenty of sweat.....oh yes it was alot of fun.

I will be adding accessories and doing a 'person' shoot soon, so will post back at a latter date with some more exciting pictures.

That's great and doesn't look as uncomfortable as the name sounds. Maybe call it a cuirass? :D

Newp, mens corset is really more correct.

Men should not be afraid of them, it was fairly common.

Well like anything that has been adopted into the feminine there is a fear of association. Heels for instance were worn by men, as were hose.

I did historical re-enactment and I cannot get out of my mind that cuirass = armor. On the flip side a corselet is a type of cuirass or brestplate.

not yet....but will take some in due course - it has 2 rows of eyelets on each side of the center back (for some variety with lacing) and the 'lions' belt buckles in the middle.
