Oh come now, I'd rather like to think it has something to do with it based on the era at which it appears to be set and the zeitgeist of such times in Showa era Japan. I admit my little throwaway comment clearly was in some bad taste and has clearly hit some nerve in a few people but surely we can allow a bit of black humour.

*sigh* look could people stop highhlighting my fairly weak attempt at some tongue in cheak dark humour, the fact is this picture is simply awesome.
It's a wonderful retro nod towards the roots of japanese mecha and the extraordinary advances in the robotics industry they have provided for the world.
it just looks so real, that's the best part :)
