Steamy Wonder Woman

I have been meaning to post this for months! I made this Steamy Wonder Woman for Comic-Con this summer in San Diego. Now my husband wants a Steamy Deathstroke the Terminator to go with it. I am planning to put together a whole group of steamy heroes and villians as this was a lot of fun to build and I am looking forward to getting more of them completed.

I can't see from the pictures; what makes this costume "steamy" as opposed to "neovictorian"?

I suppose Neo-Victorian is an apporopriate term as well. I have other pieces in this series that are more clockwork covered, but really what would a hero like Wonder woman with her suite of powers needs with gears and claockworks? For some of the characters that have "powers" it seemed like a better idea to bring them into the look and styling of steampunk so that they can live along side a Batman that is heavily steampunk. Once I have more of the series complete I will post them as well.

I love this logic and it's something I think is lacking way too much in the steam community, for fear of being looked down upon by pretentious pricks.

I cannot wait to see the rest!

Why, the Invisible Dirigible parked next to her, of course! :)

(I do apologize. I couldn't resist. I actually do think your question is reasonable *g*)

Oh, and....really well-done costume, Original Poster. I like the attention to detail, particularly the garters :)

I'm in love with this costume. Now we need a steamy Super Girl, Catwoman, etc. to go with you!

I love it! Especially those boots!! Inquiring minds who love red boots want to know where you found them ;)

They are from www.pleaserusa.com You can find them direct or from Amazon, Zappos, Endless etc. I actually decided on a more Steamy or as one commenter said Neo-victorian, Wonder woman strictly so that I could wear those shoes!

Thanks very much for the linkage and I would have built an outfit around those as well :)

clockworkcouture.com has them as well, so I think they (the company who produces the boots) distribute to lots of boutiques and online stores.

I love this! I love that you have kept all the essential wonder woman things like her lassoo and arm bracers.

I too am interested to know where the shoes are from - they are stunning!

May I ask why the lasso is so little? I imagine that only little villainous kittens could be tied up with those!

Otherwise, this is a truly ingenious vision to behold! Marvelous!

It's actually 4 yards long but I tied it up close for practicality. When you are running around a convention center with 100,000 other people you don't want to be getting caught on things as you try to move through the crowd. :)

I love this. You've captured the perfect essence of WW without giving in the temptation of the usual useless gears and cogs we see so often. The Victorians were all about detail, and you've certainly captured that. I think any neo-victorian or steampunk WW would be proud to wear this outfit. The addition of the topper makes perfect sense as well, and really completes the look. I can't wait to see what you do with the other characters. Beautiful work!

Loveit loveit loveit. And I for one like that it is not covered in gears! Although it might cute if there were a metallic gear motif instead of stars on the skirt.

You mentioned Batman and such-- do you have other photos?
