Ladies and gentlemen,
It has just (as in, within the past fifteen minutes) been pointed out to me that the amazing picture of me by the photographer Tarilyn Quinn (http://tarilynquinn.com) has been used in Penguin's promotional trailer for the Katie MacAlister novel Steamed:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U98_hXIg LZU
I am very flattered and entertained (though really, all the credit goes to Tarilyn for making the photo look so bloody good).
As a closing note, though, if Ms. MacAlister or anyone from Penguin happens to be on or watching this community, I understand that Tarilyn was not credited in the video or in its description on the Youtube page. If it would be possible for someone to correct this, I think it would only be right. It would make her very happy.
Regards,
-G. D. Falksen
EDIT: P.S. The photographer knows about this. To the general public, thank you all for your support. However, please do not contact the publisher for us. Tarilyn has contacted them herself and will take care of the discussion with them on her end.
EDIT: Rather than resolving the issue with the artists so that they can get some benefit from this, the video appears to have been pulled. However, so that you all know what is being talked about, I've changed the link to one which someone else uploaded and which is still online. Whoever uploaded it is providing a clear record of what was stolen.

Considering her skill, it's only right she gets recognition.
Also, her choice of subjects isn't at all bad.
:Falls over laughing and pointing at you:
BWHAWHWHWHWHWHWHWHWHWHWHWHWHWHWH!!!!
Your the steampunk Fabio!!!!
She should also send them a cease and desist IN WRITING, as well as complain to YouTube to have the trailer pulled under the DMCA. (She needs to go here, flag the video, and select "Infringes my rights" and "Infringes my copyright", and also follow the procedures here.)
Yes, I know that all sounds very harsh, but if she wants to ensure that she receives credit for her work - if not outright remuneration - she's going to need to be a hardass about it now.
This leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. Especially because the book is obviously pandering to our community while simultaneously stealing from it.
Shame Penguin, shame!
Aside from other many issues, what I find funny is that they go to all the trouble of finding (stealing) the image of the man, but they use an illustration of the woman. huh? Why not just go ahead and pirate the image of a woman too? It looks ridiculous having a cartoon woman and a real man.
But, I agree with the others. Regardless of whether you should've been offered monetary compensation; that's for you to work out with the publishers, at the very least, they have a legal obligation to obtain the permission of all involved I would think.
As for him recieving monetary compensation it's between him the the photographer not the publisher, assuming she still retains the copyright to the photo. Now the photographers beef Should be with the publisher.
and the situation is very ironic.
All those hours of work that go into making a bodice; the corsetry, the measuring, the sewing, the decorating, scouring thrift stores, ebay, and old machine shops for just the right accessories...it just strikes me as wasteful to go around ripping a perfectly good bodice. More than wasteful! I say to you, it is contemptible, nay, criminal.

And the copyright infringement is also bad, but if it WAS done by a high school intern, it makes more sense. I would HOPE that a big publisher like Penguin would be more aware of the possible repercussions of using someone else's artwork in a promotional video.
They've got an awfully big hole to dig themselves out of this time...
dont email the company , she is helping me handle it and we dont want them to get too many angry emails.
This will work out one way or another.
At lest it means the art is good.
And that Voice Over actor... omg.
We found out about it from this post.

So no one knew about it and its been up on youtube for a bit till now.
I am going to make this point this is not the authors fault at all
Some one in there marketing dropped the ball and did not contact or ask any one. The authors of books have no control over stuff like that at all.
So still read this book if you would like too.
Interestingly it appears Katie has an LJ too.

I've dropped him a message... I recognise the watch that follows it too, I'll see if I can track that down.
I can only say that in your shoes, Sir, I would in future hesitate to ever pose for any photos that might end up online if this is what could become of them. Quelle horreur.
